Westmead Hospital Foundation was delighted to host our Spring Morning Tea, bringing together the wonderful community of supporters who make our work possible: donors, volunteers, staff and friends of Westmead Hospital and the Western Sydney Local Health District.
The morning was a heartfelt celebration of connection and generosity, offering guests the chance to hear firsthand how community support translates into real impact across our hospitals. Attendees heard a moving story from a mother whose family has been supported by our Westmead Institute for Maternal and Fetal Medicine (WIMFM) team, a reminder of the difference that specialised care and dedicated fundraising can make during life's most precious and vulnerable moments.
Guests also heard from Peter Rophail, Acting General Manager of Westmead Hospital, who spoke about what fundraising and a strong partnership with the Foundation can do for the public hospital system. He spoke on his experience with foundation work and what is possible with the wind in our sails here at Westmead Hospital Foundation.
Representatives from several hospital departments and staff members joined the morning tea to share how funds raised through the Foundation have helped bring vital equipment and resources to their teams, giving guests a genuine, on-the-ground sense of how every donation and every supporter's generosity translates into better care for patients and families.
General Manager of Westmead Hospital Foundation, Dinidu Illangakoon, reflected on the significance of the event:
"Tell us what matters to you. Tell us what you're passionate about. Let us show you where you can make a difference. [The purpose of today] is to build a community around this hospital."
