Help us support Westmead NICU
Our little boy Lucas was due on 5th November, but decided to join us on the 15th of August at 28 weeks and 2 days gestation after Annika’s waters broke at 26 weeks.
We were very fortunate that a bed was made available for Lucas at Westmead NICU.
Behind the automatic doors on level 3 lies a world many of us thankfully never get exposed to. Having to leave Lucas in his humidity crib attached to all sort of equipment day after day was very challenging. However we knew he was in the best possible place and had a skilled and caring nurse at his bedside 24/7.
Lucas spent 82 days in NICU/Special Care and came home on his due date more than 2.5 times his birthweight.
With this fundraiser we would like to say thank you to the incredible team at Westmead NICU. Not only did Lucas receive excellent care, they also looked after us parents. Funds raised will ensure future babies like Lucas will also be given an opportunity to have the best possible start to life.
